Congratulations to Marshall Volunteer Fire Department Station 185 for taking the 1st place trophy at the third annual Franklin Park Battle of the Barrel!
A special thanks is also extended to everyone who came out on such a hot summer day to help us make this a success.
The Franklin Park Battle of the Barrel is an annual event which coincides with the Borough of Franklin Park's annual Festival in the Park. The object of the battle is for two teams of firefighters to use a hose stream to push a barrel suspended on an overhead cable past their opponents. The firefighters must use their teamwork skills to control the nozzle and to both advance and retreat a charged hose line based on the direction of the barrels travel. It's a physically demanding workout, fun, and great skills and teamwork practice all in one.
If this sounds like fun to you, or if you have ever thought about volunteering, come and join us for our 2018 Firefighter For A Night July 26, 2018. It's an opportunity to fill the role of a firefighter in various training scenarios. It's also an opportunity to see what goes on behind the scenes at the Fire Company, you'll see we need volunteers to to help with non-emergency and administrative functions too! To sign up call 412-364-5670 x104 or email our Vice President Brian Marriner (see link below), and last but not least visitors are welcome during the event!
